Identifying requirements of an IMU-based gait assessment interface for incomplete spinal cord injury through user-centred design approach

چکیده
For most patients with an incomplete spinal cord injury, gait rehabilitation plays a key role in functional recovery. Gait is usually assessed by physiotherapists and physicians through observational analysis or specialized personnel laboratory analysis. However, prone to misjudgment, complex time-consuming. Inertial measurement units (IMUs) could be interesting alternative bring objective closer the actual healthcare providers. This article focuses on identifying requirements of IMU-based assessment interface for use clinical setting physiotherapists. The design process consisted four stages: (1) user research identify physicians’ physiotherapists’ needs expectations, context wherein system will used; (2) analysing interpreting results collect insights define vision; (3) conceptualization evaluation initial concepts layout visualization parameters; (4) developing evaluating prototype interface. Future need conducted further develop usability functionality

Control of an Ambulatory Exoskeleton with a Brain–Machine Interface for Spinal Cord Injury Gait Rehabilitation
The closed-loop control of rehabilitative technologies by neural commands has shown a great potential to improve motor recovery in patients suffering from paralysis. Brain-machine interfaces (BMI) can be used as a natural control method for such technologies. BMI provides a continuous association between the brain activity and peripheral stimulation, with the potential to induce plastic changes...
متن کاملReview The Case for gait analysis as part of the management of incomplete spinal cord injury
Incomplete spinal cord injury at ASIA (D) level often leads to major gait re-education attempts for patients and staff. Walking prognosis usually depends upon muscle power loss, degree of spasticity present, type of lower limb joint deformity developing and availability of treatment. As an adjunct to physical examination and observation, instrumented gait analysis can inform treatment, since th...
متن کاملBrain Computer Interface for Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a chronic paralysis that needs a longterm health, economic, and social issue worldwide. A major goal of the physicians and therapists is to enhance the restoration of movements lost after SCI. Following decades of research about the central nervous system (CNS) has advanced greatly, however, it is till little known about the inducing successful regeneration, especial...
متن کاملEffect of Aspirin on Spinal Cord Injury: An Experimental Study
Aspirin is an anti-inflammatory drug, peroxyl radical scavenger, and antioxidant agent that inhibits phospholipases, nitric oxide synthetases, and cyclooxygenase enzymes. The existing literature contains no studies on the effects of various doses of aspirin on spinal cord injury (SCI). Therefore, we sought to investigate the putative effects of aspirin on experimental SCI.The weight-drop injury...

Background: The spinal cord trauma is a lost physical performance that causes physical limitations in addition to mental, social and economic disadvantages. The mouth and tooth health is known as one of the related issues to the physical quality of life. Providing the conditions of the more independence for these people in brushing teeth can improve the level of mouth and tooth hygiene. The aim...
